Holly Parker

BA(Linguistics/Psychology), DipLang (Italian), MSpPath, MSPA CPSP & CCC-SLP
Holly graduated from Flinders University with a Master of Speech Pathology in 2018. Before sub-specialising in the area of laryngology, Holly worked in a variety of settings including acute and subacute hospitals, paediatric education and disability as well as a year spent working in rehabilitation in the United States. Holly works part-time at VMA and is also a senior clinician in a major hospital multidisciplinary Ear, Nose and Throat service. She holds clinical competencies in instrumental voice and swallow assessment and has worked in various head and neck cancer services.
A lifelong love of singing and noise-making inspired Holly’s interest in voice therapy. Outside of being a speech pathologist she is a classically trained soprano and spent her childhood growing up in the Northern Territory involved in amateur musical theatre productions, choirs and performing as a soloist. Holly loves working therapeutically with singers of all ages and from all vocal backgrounds.
Vocal empowerment and building independence in voice navigation or interoception are central to Holly’s approach to working with voice. She believes voice therapy should be dynamic and achievable and uses a strong evidence base to inform her clinical practice. Holly has clinical skills in general voice therapy, peri-operative care, working with occupational voice users and providing gender-affirming voice training. She also provides laryngeal retraining therapy for middle airway disorders such as laryngeal hypersensitivity, chronic cough and inducible laryngeal obstruction. She is dedicated to supporting people with laryngeal conditions to reach their goals and full vocal potential.
Holly is across all areas of laryngology and beautifully merges her love of the art of voice with the science and health aspects of functional laryngology. She is located in Brisbane providing VMA sessions mostly online but also swings down to Melbourne Headquarters regularly for our VMA team catch-ups and to brighten our world face-to-face.
