Tuesday 27th October, 7:30pm AEST

Join Evelien and the VMA team for an interactive discussion exploring peri-operative voice care in gender-affirming voice surgery, with a particular focus on pitch raising glottoplasty and consideration of LAVA. Drawing on Evelien’s extensive clinical and research expertise, together with VMA’s clinical experience and recently published Australian outcomes, we’ll compare approaches, share challenges and explore practical insights across the surgical journey.

Prof. Evelien D’Haeseleer is a highly respected voice clinician, researcher and educator from Ghent University, and well known to many in the international voice community. She combines her academic work with clinical practice in both the Voice Clinic and multidisciplinary Gender Team at Ghent University Hospital and also teaches at the Royal Conservatoire Brussels.

Evelien has developed particular expertise in gender-affirming voice care, spanning voice training, peri-operative management and surgical outcomes. Her research includes prospective investigation of voice outcomes following Wendler glottoplasty, tracking changes from the early post-operative period through longer-term recovery. She is also actively involved internationally through EPATH and IALP.

With that rare combination of hands-on experience, research and a genuinely practical clinical perspective, we’re delighted to have Evelien join us for what should be a fascinating and very interactive conversation.
